Buenavista in the Filter Subscription

Ready for our new Subscription Filter Bean from Colombia? Buenavista embodies a delightful cup of coffee full of berries, with a pleasant acidity reminiscent of strawberry-flavoured yoghurt. The sweetness is long lasting and covers your palate like a velvety coat. The sweetness awakes memories of black cherries soaked in a cocktail, alcoholic but still crisp and aromatic. The aftertaste is smoothly rounded off with tropical, juicy notes.

About the farm

Diofanor Ruiz was born into a traditional coffee farming family and was heavily involved in the farm from an early age. Diofanor decided to continue growing coffee and became a certified coffee farmer in 2003. In 2005, Diofanor was able to purchase his farm, La Divisa. La Divisa covers 14 hectares and is located at an altitude of 1950 masl in Buenavista, Quindío. Diafanor Ruiz lives at La Divisa with his wife and their young son, who is currently studying agroforestry engineering.

Colombian coffee grows under the blessing of the Andes, the world’s longest continental mountain range, which forms a continuous highland along the western edge of South America from Colombia in the north to Chile in the south. In the department of Quindío, where Buenavista is located, the lowest point is 1,100m in the valley of the river La Vieja, while the highest point is the 5,150m peak of Nevado del Quindío. An ancient volcanic eruption left a blanket of fertile soil in the area, which feeds the large areas of rainforest and bamboo forests. The abundant rainfall of around 2,000mm and cool temperatures of 16-24°C provide ideal conditions for coffee growing. Grown at an altitude of 1600 – 2000m in Buenavista, this coffee is 100% Pink Bourbon.
