We open miró Kreuzplatz!

We are so excited. Today we are writing another chapter of the miró story. To be continued.
Omg. Today’s the day.
Today, 24 April, we are opening a new takeaway café called «miró Kreuzplatz». YAY!

In collaboration with the well-trusted architectural practice of Florian Ringli, we have spent the last few weeks creating a new takeaway café in the waiting hall at the highly frequented Kreuzplatz.
In addition to the shop area of around 10 m², the lighting in the hall was also redesigned. The fact that VBZ gave us a free hand here offered enormous potential, says Ringli: «The entire waiting area now serves as extended café space. Everyone benefits from this — even those people who just stop by there and wait for the tram.»
How cool is that.
The waiting hall is a listed building that underwent a major refurbishment in the 1970s.
«Bringing the various layers of the refurbishments together into a coherent whole that reflects miró was an exciting challenge.»
Florian Ringli, Architect

The green cladding of the café window — a nod to the period when the waiting hall was built at the turn of the century — has been complemented by a simple, monochrome and material-honouring interior design. The round wooden benches and tables invite visitors to linger, whilst the warm, welcoming lighting bathes this central space in a new glow.
It’s always been a conscious decision to design each miró location individually rather than adopting a corporate identity. «The brand speaks for itself: the shops are designed to reflect their own character and local circumstances.»
«The openness shown by Dani and David Sanchez as owners is one of the most wonderful things you can experience when designing spaces.»
Florian Ringli, Architect

From the drinks menu featuring speciality coffees from our own roastery to homemade baked goods: the range on offer at miró Kreuzplatz is comparable to miró Passage Sihlquai at HB — and caters to the needs of gourmets and commuters.
We can’t wait to welcome you there.
Come by — we look forward to seeing you, soon!
