New miró Shirts by Nando von Arb!

by Leandra Reiser

The day has arrived – we’re finally dropping new miró shirts. WHOOP. Wanna know more about the person and idea behind the design? Read on.

We’re super excited about dropping fresh merch. And we’re even more excited that our friend and collab partner Nando von Arb’s artwork is shining on these shirts.

Nando von Arb is a Zurich based comic artist and illustrator. From an early age onward (as a rather introverted person and not paying attention to anything else in school), he realized that through drawing he can communicate things he’s been lacking words for. Art became his valve, his passion – his voice.

«Through my art, I thrive to communicate with people.»

His art speaks for itself. One glace at it makes it hard to miss what Nando likes: telling stories through vibrant colours, contrasts, pop-like, naïve, bulky, gnarled motifs that speak of emotions, of uneasy matters, of unsaid things. And all of that expressed in the most aesthetic and distinctive way.

His images are influenced by their content and vice versa, says Nando. « It’s always an interplay.» The goal he sets himself with his art is simple: «People should enjoy looking at it. And read something from it – on their own.»

«In the best case I manage to make ugly stuff look beautiful.»

The idea behind the motive that adorns the shirts was an innovative, personal design that works on a small miró matchbox – but also as a large print on fabric.

Inspired by ancient Peruvian drinking vessels – that he playfully turned into coffee cups – Nando created a one-of-a-kind design in bright, popping colours and coffee bean pattern.

«Actually, my drawings have the same effect as coffee. They’re enjoyable – but they can also be intense.»

Sustainably produced by Stanley-Stella and printed exclusively with GOTS-approved water-based printing inks, the shirt’s textile is traceable from the harvesting of the cotton to the finishing via transaction certificates. Stanley/Stella is also PeTA-approved Vegan certified.

The new miró shirts are a limited edition.

So – while they’re still available – go get yours.
