Join the vernissage: Flowers for us

by Leandra

From next Wednesday on, we show the work of the Swiss-Irish visual artist and graphic designer Sarah Parsons at miró Brauer — join us for the vernissage!

Have you heard?

From May 6 on, the walls at miró Brauer will be spoiled with new colours.

Vernissage at miró Brauer — May 6 from 18h

Fresh pieces of outstanding art will fill the blanks — a whole new exhibition, tailored to our flagship café: The artwork of Sarah Parsons.

Layered.

That word might describe the work of Sarah Parsons and the artist herself best. Her artistic practice is rooted in the search for the right line and form. She sees collage as a technique for arranging individual elements and materials.

«My artistic practice is based on the principle of collage — both as a technique and as a way of thinking.»

Remember the Plexiglas panels on the walls of miró Brauer, which up until now have served as a protective frame? Well, not anymore.

Especially for miró, she altered the panels — which became a central component of her work themselves.

«Is there such a thing as a ‘feminine’ aesthetic? And when is something ‘too much’?»

Sarah Parsons, visual artist & graphic designer

As a designer, she has found that ‘too feminine’ It is often implied as a negative and inferior evaluation of design.

At the same time, the creative process is frequently described as a ‘feminine’ trait. Why, then, is the assessment of creative work not equally in the hands of people perceived as female?

«Who defines aesthetic norms?»

Sarah Parsons, visual artist & graphic designer

Sarah Parsons art evolves around those questions and tries to elaborate them — deliberately treading the line between excess, allure and restraint.

Curious? And ready for a little «too much»?

The vernissage takes place at miró Brauer on Wednesday, May 6 from 18h.

Come by for a drink, a snack and a chat — and raise a glass to Sarah Parsons brave new gallery in our flagship café.

See you.
